Kensho now offers a connection to Business Entity Cross Reference Service from its Link solution
Kensho Link now integrates with BECRS, combining ML-powered entity mapping with 10+ company data points from S&P Global's identifier network in a single API call.
Kensho Link now offers more comprehensive data mapping in a one-step process, with one consolidated output
Connecting disparate data sets is paramount for producing high-quality insights and accelerating decision-making. S&P Global’s reputation as the premier financial data provider is built on this awareness. However, the opportunity for further automation and increased data accessibility is ever present, especially in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), so why not further optimize data management and linking with AI?
Kensho Link helps organizations with the first step of data standardization as a machine learning (ML) solution that maps unstructured, messy entities in a user’s database to unique ID numbers in S&P Global’s company database. Link uses an AI algorithm to return high quality links, even when the data inputs are ambiguous or contain errors by comparing user-submitted data to S&P Global’s Capital IQ database of over 31 million entities (and growing). Once mapped to these unique IDs, a user’s database grows ever more powerful through its standardization and interconnectedness. In a matter of minutes, Kensho Link can disambiguate hundreds of thousands of entities to relevant CIQ IDs. Once users have their “clean” list of entities and respective CIQ IDs, they unlock access to a greater S&P data environment, whether ESG, financials or other cross-reference datasets.
S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Business Entity Cross Reference Service (BECRS) is of particular interest to users because it enables users to link CIQ IDs to other industry identifiers, including but not limited to D&Bs, LEIs, Tax IDs as well as IDs within corporate hierarchies for millions of public and private entities. Hundreds of S&P Global customers rely on BECRS to update and maintain their entity databases and avoid the time-consuming and costly endeavor of manually mapping entities.
Historically, Link and BECRS were sold as two separate services but customers quickly gravitated towards using both given their complementary nature. Based on extensive client feedback and user interviews across several industries—including finance, banking, legal, reinsurance and professional services—our customers helped us realize a closer pairing of Link and BECRS was the logical next step. Many customers explained how some additional data engineering work, such as data table joins, was necessary if Link and BECRS remained separate services, so why not combine Link and BECRS into a single, API-enabled service?
We listened. And now, we are proud to deliver…
As of September 2023, Kensho Link can connect not only to S&P Global CIQ IDs, but also all BECRS-provided IDs. This new unified service combines the ML-powered entity mapping accuracy of Link with the expansive company identifier data from BECRS into a single efficient workflow.
This integration transforms how S&P Global customers ingest data. Now that Kensho Link functions as a delivery channel, users can leverage Kensho’s AI capabilities for more streamlined access to the BECRS dataset. Now available via the Kensho Link API or UI, our users can:
Enrich Data: Receive an output that contains 10+ entity data points including a CIQ ID, legal entity name, a link score, company foundation data (address, city, state, zip, phone number, URL, aliases) and third party identifiers from the BECRS dataset. Kensho Link can now equip users with more data than ever before, ultimately serving as the key facilitator in downstream workflows.
Disambiguate: Leveraging S&P Global’s robust data ecosystem, Kensho Link’s premier disambiguation capabilities drive our clients’ efforts to make continued data connections more efficient.
Embrace Data As-a-Service: Instead of two separate products that required multi-step applications and table joins, this integrated data-as-a-service solution centralizes entity data, improving the efficiency and ease with which clients upload and manage their data.
There is much in store for Kensho Link as this integration with BECRS is just the beginning. The Kensho Link team already has its eyes on additional S&P Global datasets to further their mission of simplifying user workflows, enhancing efficiency, and connecting our customers to the data they need.
