How is Word Error Rate Calculated?
Word Error Rate (WER) is a commonly used metric to judge the accuracy of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems. It is the ratio of errors in the ASR’s transcription to the total number of words spoken. WER is typically calculated ignoring differences in punctuation, whitespace, and capitalization.
